My wife and I spent 5 wonderful days in Rome, not our first time there. We decided to us a guide when seeing the Colosseum this time as there is so much to see in that area of the City. My wife found Marisa and this lady set up a tour for us that was spectacular! As I am unfortunately unable to walk great distances, Marisa took this into account and provided a wonderful tour for us, busy from one minute to the next, and her knowledge because of her background just added to our pleasure. This young lady answered every question we had in a way we could understand it and spent a very pleasurable 3 to 4 hours with us ! We learned a great deal about the Colosseum and the Palentine that we would have never gleaned from books alone. If you are going to Rome or the Vatican do give yourself a treat and enjoy the trip a lot better by hiring Marisa FIcorella as your guide! P.S. Believe me I am not a relative of this young lady, she just deserves a great big star for her efforts………Thank you Marisa Fred and Connie Bird
It was a joy exploring Rome with Marisa for two days in late October'24. She was very knowledgeable about the history of ancient Rome, very accommodating and her communication skills (in English), perfect. She even helped us with booking tickets(which are rather tricky to get, online). She did the tours at our pace, with our interests in mind. Her restaurant suggestions were also excellent. I highly recommend her.
We had the incredible opportunity to spend two unforgettable days exploring Rome and the Vatican with Marisa Ficorella. Marisa, a knowledgeable archaeologist and a passionate guide, brought the millennia-old history of Rome to life in ways we didn't expect.
Our journey began with an in-depth tour of the Colosseum, where her detailed storytelling and expert knowledge made the ancient amphitheater's history and architecture truly come alive. We then wandered through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. In the Basilica of San Clemente, a hidden gem with multiple layers of history beneath its foundations, Marisa's enthusiasm made us get an understanding of the intricate ancient structures. As Vatican guide, we also had the privilege to discover the St. Peter's basilica and Vatican museums in a personal way learning about so many fascinating stories attached to the art, architecture and artifacts that we saw.
Overall it was a perfect blend of academic rigor and engaging storytelling. If you're planning a trip to Rome, I highly recommend booking a tour with Marisa Ficorella. It's an experience you won't want to miss!
Grazie mille, Marisa, for making our Roman adventure unforgettable!
The other reviewers are not wrong. Exploring Rome with Marisa was an outstanding experience. She was very helpful in planning our custom day and always quick to respond to our questions. From picking up our skip the line tickets to our lunch break at one of her favorite local restaurants, she made our visit easy and memorable. She is very knowledgeable - it really added to our Vatican and Rome underground experience. If we visit Rome again, we will try to do it with Marisa as our guide.
My wife and I had the opportunity to join Marisa for private tours of the Colosseum/Roman Forum and Vatican Museums/St. Peter's Basilica. She was really quite excellent, from fair pricing, to extremely clear and detailed communication prior to the days of the tours regarding meeting times/locations, to the actual quality of the tours themselves. She was extremely knowledgeable on basically everything we saw, and was able to communicate her passion for the area in a clear and friendly way. Highly recommend.
Although we have visited Rome many times, on our last visit we decided to use a much more knowledgeable guide, and someone with archaeological skills and experience. We were absolutely delighted with Marisa's knowledge and passion for the Forum and Palatine, and ancient Roman history.
The few hours we spent with her was absolutely the best ever. She made this trip memorable and enjoyable and we are so grateful. Marisa is a real gem.
We visited Rome and toured the Forum and Palatine Hill with Marisa. It was an amazing time and we enjoyed the information and the manner Marisa shared the complex history of the area. It was informative, exciting, and enjoyable. Marisa was flexible and willing to meet us where we were dropped off by a bus. That alone decreased our anxiety in trying to locate Marisa on our own. We highly recommend a day in Rome with Marisa.

We were delighted to have Marisa be our guide again for our second trip to Rome. We were with Marisa for 2 days-one for the Colosseum and one for the Vatican. Marisa is so knowledgeable, warm and passionate about her work and it really makes the tour. I cannot imagine going through the huge Vatican exhibits and Colosseum without a guide. We would have Marisa as our guide again and are highly recommending her to family and friends.
We just spent a packed four days with Marisa touring the sites of Ancient Rome as part of my Bucket List trip. She is remarkable and her experience as an historian and archaeologist totally shined through. By using diagrams on her iPad and in her notebook, we were able to see the Forum, Palatine Hill and so many other sites come alive. She is personable and patient, even when I kept stopping to photograph every sign and climb every staircase to get a better view 🙂 I couldn't imagine having a better guide for this absolutely incredible experience. Thank you, Marisa!
