There is another Rome, just underneath our busy streets and far from the crowd that usually you meet in the Colosseum.
We call this hidden city the “Underground Rome”: ruins of ancient houses, baths, temples discovered underneath the asphalt of the modern Rome.
Thanks to my experience of archaeologist, I’ll help you understanding the different layers left by centuries of urbanization.
in this new version of the Underground tour, we’ll visit two sites under two very famous and crowded plazas of Rome. First I’ll guide you in the underground of Piazza Navona, where centuries ago stood the Stadium of Domitian.
Second, after a lovely walk in the city center, we’ll cross the busy Piazza di Trevi (Trevi Fountain) to discover the small archaeological sites called Vicus Caprarius, a small bit of Rome found by mistake.
